Many websites start out with a big splash on the Internet.  You see beautifully produced graphics that are impressive.  However, further mouse clicking reveals that there is little useable information on the site.  In addition, the site hasn't been updated recently.

The real goal, as far as I am concerned, is to provide a "content rich" site.  This also means real information that is timely and easily accessed.  The number of visitors to this site is growing and proves the site-keeping-effort is paying off.  I believe the BAARC and Amateur Radio should show the quality and enthusiasm that are a part of the Ham Radio hobby today.

As of September 6, 1999, I am happy to report that this website received a rating by e-HAM.net.

On June 3, 2000, I added a HAM Icon to the BAARC web page.  This Icon is seen when you save the index page (first page of the web site) in Favorites in Internet Explorer.  To do it, save the BAARC index page to your Favorites.  Then, click away to another site and return to BAARC.  You will see the HAM Icon to the left of the BAARC in place of the Internet Explorer icon on the Favorites menu and you will see it on the address bar in the browser.  Netscape does not support this feature.

On March 15, 2002, a new look was given to the BAARC website.  The index and main pages were combined to make it easier to find information.  The new look is similar to many high-tech pages you might have seen.

August 24, 2003:  I was delighted that the ARRL published an article I wrote on websites.  See: http://www.arrl.org/news/features/2003/08/24/1

June 29, 2002:  There have been a number of "fine tuning" changes to the Club website recently. You may not get the full benefit of the changes if your browser is storing an old version and displaying it from memory. The best way to make sure you are seeing the latest information is to hit the "refresh" button on your browser once you are at the index (main) page of the website. The same applies to any other pages on the site. Most browsers store web pages for 20 days before actually looking for a new version. Refreshing at each page makes sure you are seeing the latest information. It is not uncommon for a club story to be edited two or three times with new information as it arrives even if it is a week from when the page was first published to the web. Find the BAARC website at: http://brainerdham.org..

December 20, 2006 The website was moved to a server at Crosslake Communications in Crosslake, MN.  This created a problem where the Ø in call signs looked like a small square box due to a difference in the server operating system.  I had to go through the entire site making changes.  This also gave me an opportunity to update some outdate material.   At the same time, the club added http://w0uj.org as a second URL entry point to the site.  This will make it easier for hams to find the site.  Non-Hams are more comfortable with remembering the original http://brainerdham.org URL.

January 22, 2007:  The second article I wrote on web page creation was published by the ARRL.  See: http://www.arrl.org/news/features/2007/01/22/1/?nc=1
